Top 5 SEO add-ons for Firefox

October 3rd, 2007

Tools help us accomplish our goals in a more efficient way. SEO tools are vital to the speed and success of any SEO professional and it’s because they’re so important we must understand and exchange tools to advance SEO as a whole. Let’s face it without the right tools doing the job of an SEO would be almost impossible. To make life easier for the average SEO and to further the art of search engine marketing we have compiled a list of the top 5 SEO add-ons for Firefox.

Firefox Addons

1. Search Status

Search Status

Search status is an incredibly useful add-on for any SEO. This add-on displays the Alexa rank, Page Rank and Compete rank for any given website. You will see these stats displayed in the bottom right hand corner of Firefox. This tool is helpful for gaining a quick idea of what kind of traffic and authority a site may have. While the compete ranking is not highly considered the Alexa is a great indicator of traffic levels and the Page Rank gives you an idea of how long a site has been around and how much authority it has.

2. Delicious Bookmarks

Delicious

If you work in SEO you are likely working on social media from time to time. This toolbar comes in very handy for social book marking purposes. There is a nifty little icon near your address bar that you can click on. When clicked a delicious pop-up will appear and ask you details about your bookmark. Once you’ve completed the bookmark it will be saved into your delicious account normally.

3. StumbleUpon

Stumbleupon

Much like the Delicious toolbar this add-on comes most handy in the social arena. For new pages or sites simply click the thumbs up or down button and a pop-up will open with various information. Once you’ve finished the page will be saved into your StumbleUpon account.

4. SEO tool

SEo tool

This is by far one of the most useful SEO tools around. This tool displays a list of stats when using the Google search engine. If set to automatic these stats will quickly display various statistics about a website such as PR, date, pages indexed, back links, whois, Technorati and many other useful categories. This is tool will slow down your browser and your search results but if used for research purposes that shouldn’t be a problem.

5. Firebug

Firebug

While Firebug is considered more of a developer’s tool than an SEO tool it can still be very useful. Since code is a huge part of finding success in the search engines you should understand it and check it. Checking a competitor’s code can provide valuable insights into their operations and procedures.

Great article! These Firefox SEO tools are invaluable. I especially like the SEO tool to immediately get a bird’s eye view on the stats for any given url. It’s important to gauge the number of back links and types of links in evaluating an SEO campaign to improve search engine rankings.

You forgot about SEO Quake, which I would rank # on this this. You can pretty much replace search status with this.

p.s. Alexa Rank is a joke.
